Bellamy Brothers, Howard and David. created a patent on the newly cool “duo” category in country music. In the era of the 2000’s, The Bellamy Brothers hold the record in both the Academy of Country Music (ACM) and the Country Music Association Awards (CMA) for the most duo nominations. Numerous Grammy nods have also been directed toward the brothers. They honed their early skills playing black clubs throughout the south, and singing backup for artists such as Percy Sledge, Eddie Floyd, and Little Anthony & The Imperials. Within a few months, the brothers moved north, immersing themselves and their rock/country sound in the Atlanta market. These days when the subject turns to touring, The Bellamys are showing a new generation of country music how it’s done. “We’re old road dogs,” grins Howard.

Join guest instructor, Edgar Cano Lopez, Assistant Professor of Art at Northwestern State University, for a figure drawing workshop in the museum’s galleries. Participants will learn to draw the figure from a live model, honing observation skills and technique.

BUSTER – male, age presenting 30-60. The sheriff of a nearby town.

All CPP auditions are a cold read, which simply means you'll be given a short scene from the script at the audition and a few minutes to look it over before reading it with others. There's nothing to memorize, and we're not looking for perfection. We're simply interested in seeing how you bring a character to life and work with fellow actors!

SFA Gardens Lecture Series to feature award-winning horticulturist, Greg Grant

Nacogdoches, Texas -- SFA Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. on August 13th in the Ina Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, 2900 Raguet Street, Nacogdoches, TX 75965. Dr. Greg Grant, will present “Postmortem: The Decline of Post Oaks and an Entire Ecosystem.”

Dr. Greg Grant serves as the Smith County horticulture extension agent with Texas A&M AgriLife. Dr. Grant is an award-winning horticulturist, writer, photographer, conservationist, and a seventh-generation Texan from Arcadia, Texas. He has previously worked as a horticulturist with SFA Gardens, Mercer Arboretum and San Antonio Botanical Gardens, and as an instructor at SFASU and LSU. Dr. Grant will discuss the description, evolution, coverage and plants of the Post Oak savannah in East Texas and the reasons for its decline.

A plant raffle will follow the presentation. Parking is available at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, 2900 Raguet Street in Nacogdoches or next door at the Raguet Elementary School.
